Prime Video Adds Four Actors to Young Sherlock Season 2

Prime Video has added four new actors to the ensemble cast of Young Sherlock for its second season. The network announced the hiring of Sophie Skelton, Indira Varma, Olivia Williams, and Aidan Gillen on October 26. These performers will hold key recurring roles in the mystery series as production moves forward.

The new cast members join returning star Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who plays the young Sherlock Holmes. Dónal Finn also returns to the cast in the role of James Moriarty. The series is based on Andy Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes novels. Amazon MGM Studios renewed the show earlier this year after the first season achieved strong viewership.

Guy Ritchie, who directed the opening episodes of the first season, will return to direct the premiere of Season 2. Matthew Parkhill, the creator and showrunner, continues to oversee the project. Prime Video has not yet released details about the specific characters Skelton, Varma, Williams, and Gillen will portray.

Other returning cast members for the upcoming season include Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Max Irons, Natascha McElhone, and Colin Firth. The drama is set during the late teenage years of the historical detective. It depicts Holmes before he becomes the famous resident of Baker Street.

The first season followed the 19-year-old Holmes as he investigated a murder at Oxford. The plot also explored his developing relationship with Moriarty and a larger conspiracy. Producers described the show as a multi-season origin story. It tracks how the future rivals evolve into the figures readers know from Arthur Conan Doyle’s work.

Executives at Amazon MGM Studios praised the creative team for its take on the Sherlock Holmes story. They specifically cited the evolving dynamic between Sherlock and Moriarty. Producers indicated that future episodes will expand on the mythology established in the first season. A premiere date for the second season has not been announced.
